Metriva Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 24, 2026

Metriva ("the app") is a calorie, weight, and fitness tracker published by RightStepStudio, an independent developer. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

No account, no cloud storage

Metriva does not require you to sign up or log in. Everything you log — weight entries, food and exercise history, body measurements, progress photos, fasting sessions, GPS walk/run routes, and your preferences — is stored in a local database on your device only. None of it is transmitted to, or stored on, any server operated by the developer. Uninstalling the app removes this data unless you have created a local backup file yourself.

Location data (GPS walk & run tracking)

Metriva includes an optional GPS-tracked walk/run feature. When you start a tracked walk or run, the app records your device's location — including while the app is in the background, for example after you lock your phone or switch to another app — solely to draw your route on a map and calculate distance, pace, and calories for that session.

Location is only accessed while a walk or run is actively being tracked. It is never accessed at any other time, and background access stops the moment you end the session. Recorded routes are stored in the same local, on-device database as the rest of your data and are never transmitted to or stored on any server operated by the developer.

Local backup & export

The app includes an optional backup/export feature (a Premium feature) that writes a file to your device, which you can share or store using your own device's share sheet (for example, saving it to a cloud drive you control). The developer has no access to this file and no server ever receives it.

Data shared with third parties

The app makes a small number of outbound network requests, none of which include your personal health data:

The app does not use advertising networks, and does not sell or share your data for advertising purposes.

Health data (steps)

If you choose to connect Apple Health or Health Connect, the app reads your step count to display it in the app and in optional home-screen widgets. This is read-only — the app never writes to Apple Health or Health Connect — and step data is stored locally on your device in the same local database described above, never transmitted off the device.

Camera & photos

Camera access is used only to scan barcodes and to take optional progress photos you choose to add. Photo-library access is used only if you choose to attach an existing photo as a progress photo. Photos are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded anywhere by the app.

Home screen widgets

Optional widgets render a snapshot of your local data (calories, weight, water, steps, fasting) directly on your device's home screen. This snapshot is generated and stored locally and is never sent over the network.

Children's privacy

Metriva is not directed at children under 13 and the developer does not knowingly collect data from children.

Data retention

The developer does not operate any server that stores or retains your personal tracking data. All data described above — weight entries, food and exercise logs, body measurements, progress photos, fasting sessions, GPS walk/run routes, steps, and preferences — is retained solely in a local database on your device, for as long as you keep the app installed, and is never held by the developer in any form. You can delete individual entries at any time, or remove everything at once via the in-app reset option or by uninstalling the app, which permanently erases this data (unless you created a local backup file yourself, which then exists only on the storage location you chose). The brief outbound requests described above (food search text, map tile requests, and anonymous purchase identifiers) are not logged or retained by the developer; any retention of that data is governed by the respective third party's own privacy policy (USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts, OpenFreeMap, RevenueCat, and the Apple App Store / Google Play).

Data deletion

Because all tracking data — including GPS walk/run routes — lives only on your device, you can delete it at any time. Individual entries (a food log, exercise, weight entry, or tracked walk/run) can be deleted directly within the app. Everything at once can be removed by using the in-app reset option (Profile → Backup, export & reset) or by uninstalling the app.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the app's features change (for example, if crash-reporting or analytics tooling is added in a future release, this page will be updated first to describe it). Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
